Commander of the Highway Patrol Promotes Eight to Higher Ranks

 

Colonel Walter J. Wilson, Jr., Commander of the Highway Patrol, has promoted eight patrol members to higher ranks effective September 8th. They will take the oath of office during a promotional ceremony Wednesday, Sep. 17.

“These members have worked hard to earn these promotions,” said Colonel Wilson. “I'm confident they will continue to do good work at their new assignments.”

“The Highway Patrol is a proud organization with a rich history,” said Bryan E. Beatty, Secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. “These newly promoted officers have the skills, training, and experience to keep the Patrol at the forefront of professional law enforcement.

Below is a list of the new promotees:

Major Randy Glover, Lt. Colonel, Field Operations
Captain Jennifer Harris, Major, Training
Captain Randy Campbell, Major,  Motor Carrier/Special Ops
Captain Mike James, Major, Troop Operations
Lieutenant David McCoy, Captain, Troop D, Greensboro
Lieutenant Tim Belch, Captain, Internal Affairs
Lieutenant Chris Phillips, Captain, Administrative Services
Lieutenant Everett Clendenin, Captain, Public Affairs/PIO

Captain Harris is the first female in the history of the Highway Patrol to be promoted to the rank of Major. Harris will be assigned to the Training Academy as Director of Training. She is 42 years of age and joined the Highway Patrol in November of 1989.
